Marketing support for businesses in Southern Spain from someone who actuall actually lives here

English-language websites, social media, and marketing for expat businesses on the Costa Calida and Costa Almeria. I understand both markets because I work in both, every day.

Why It’s Different Here

Marketing in Spain as an English speaker is a different challenge.

Running a business in Southern Spain as an English speaker means navigating two worlds at once. You have a local Spanish community around you, an expat English-speaking community, and often a third audience back in the UK.

Getting your marketing right means understanding who you’re actually talking to, in which language, and through which channels. What works in the UK doesn’t always work here and what works for the local Spanish market won’t necessarily reach your expat customers either.

I’ve been based on the Costa Calida for eight years. I work with businesses here every day. I understand the community, the market, and the challenges of building a business in this part of Spain.

Common Challenges

Sound familiar?

These are the marketing challenges I hear most often from English-speaking business owners in Southern Spain.

My website doesn't reflect what my business has become

Many businesses in the area started with a quickly-built site that no longer fits. It doesn’t show your real range of services, it’s not mobile-friendly, and it’s not generating enquiries.

I'm not sure who I'm marketing to - expats, locals, or the UK?

Most businesses here serve a mix of audiences. Getting the right message to the right people in the right language takes a clear strategy — not just posting in English and hoping.

I know I need social media but I never have time for it

Facebook groups are hugely important for the expat community here. But managing a consistent presence alongside running a business is genuinely difficult without help.

People can't find me when they search online locally

Getting found on Google in Spain as an English-language business requires specific local SEO work. Most businesses here haven’t done it — which means there’s real opportunity for those who do.
